Nike is proud to announce the 2014 #BETRUE Collection of uniquely designed footwear and apparel that is inspired by the LGBT community, and celebrates the passion and pursuit of sport by all athletes. The launch of the collection coincidentally runs in conjunction with the upcoming Pink Dot 2014 that will be happening on 28 June.
The collection includes the Nike Free 5.0 and Nike Free OG, as well as the Nike SB Zoom Janoski. The signature #BETRUE T-shirt anchors the apparel pieces. The #BETRUE design also comes in a tank and City Pack T-Shirts. It features rainbow colours- both to represent the diversity within sports and Nike’s support for the LGBT community. Following their original #BETRUE print that was launched in 2013, it has been revamped to feature bold geometric shapes and a unique pattern with the words “Be True” embedded in the print.
The Nike Free Run 5.0 features a reflective #BETRUE tribal print. Nike Flywire on the 5.0 also reflects the colour line in the gradient of the rainbow, and the sock liner and shoelaces also highlight #BETRUE. Nike Janoski’s are one of the popular shoes at the moment, aside from their famous Roshe Run line of shoes. Did you know that “Janoski” is actually the name of a professional skateboarder? Stefan Janoski is one of several Nike elite athletes showing support for #BETRUE in June. He has lent his #BETRUE signature to his signature show, the NIKE SB Zoom Janoski.
His hand drawn Be true signatures on white canvas paper were turned into a rainbow print pattern for the upper, with no two pairs of the Nike SB Zoom Janoski #BETRUE exactly alike- making it truly unique- just what #BETRUE is all about in showing their support for the LGBT community. This collection will be launched in the US first, so hang on!
