Nike releases the Flight Guy Air Jordan I and XXXI as a tribute to Michael Jordan’s legacy.
The sneaker is defined by a mixture of black and royal blue.
This season’s styles and colors are a tribute to the original Flight Guy, MJ. In 1985, the iconic “Flight Guy” image was shot on a remote Oregon airstrip by famed sports photographer, Chuck Kuhn, where Jordan chose not to wear his team’s iconic red and black. Instead, he wore his personal favorite colors – royal blue and black.
Jordan soared beyond what was thought possible on the court. Likewise, Kawhi Leonard set aside the notion a dominant defender can’t simultaneously own the offensive end of the hardwood. The original “Flight Guy” photo has now given way to Jordan’s Brand’s “Flight Guy” pack, which brings the “Royal” back, alongside a similar Air Jordan XXXI colorway, connecting the past with the present – from Michael Jordan to Kawhi Leonard.
The Flight Guy collection celebrates the athletes who defy expectations and is inspired by how legends surprise us, often out of the blue.
