With the 2020 Summer Olympics approaching, Japanese prestigious cosmetic brand SK-II has sparked conversations with #NOCOMPETITION. Teaming up with various female athletes from across the globe, they have declared another battle in the Olympics – a battle against beauty standards.
Women all around the world have been in a competition they have never signed up for. The pressure to suit society’s perception of beauty is exhausting. And it’s even worse when you’re an athlete.
This year, Olympics athletes Simone Biles (gymnast), LiuXiang (swimmer), Ishikawa Kasumi (table tennis), Ayaka Takahashi and Misaki Matsutomo (badminton), Mahina Maeda (surfer) and Hinotori Nippon (the Japan Volleyball team) are breaking beauty standards by fighting against discriminations about the way they look. Sharing their own personal struggles on social media, they send a powerful message with “we won’t compete anymore. Beauty is #NOCOMPETITION”.
Join them in this battle against toxic views of beauty and declare #NOCOMPETITION.
