What does a lauded hawker and a cutting-edge award-winning bartender have in common? For one night only, Gina’s Vadai and Native bar will work together with Moosehead to produce the 3rd iteration of the Supper Series.
This collaboration is exciting because it is Gina Vadai’s first partnership ever since owner and hawker Gina Rajan decided to come out of semi-retirement. In addition, this is Native bar’s first collaboration after winning the Most Creative Cocktail Bar award at the recent Bar Awards Singapore 2017. This energy brought out by these partners injects exuberance and playfulness to this celebration of traditional India snacks and beverages.
When Gina Rajan decided to re-open her stall once more after having stopped her business in 2013, those in the know rejoiced. As before, Gina sells only the vadai made by those whose skill she trusts – herself, and her sister whom she personally trained.
The vadai specially created for this event with Moosehead – Mediterranean-inspired Vadai will take centrestage alongside popular classics.
Two savoury sets both retailing at SGD25++ will be available at the event. A dessert set featuring jumbut jumbut or banana ball fritters will also be available.
The sets, though thematically tied, exhibit very different nuances. One of the sets includes vegetables vadai, a classic item; feta vadi, a creation inspired after the tasting of different cheeses with the Moosehead team; and an Inka charcoal-grilled skewer of prawns. The other set will showcase a special jumbo vadai “pizza” that features a generous serving of prawns. All the vadai are finished in the Inka charcoal oven – the charred smokiness brings out a new complexity to the flavours and textures of the vadai.
Completing the experience will be three specially concocted cocktails by Vijay Mudaliar – winner of Bartender of the Year. These cocktails are inspired from local beverages generally drunk for supper as well as the sets that will be retailed during the Supper Series event.
The Moosehead Supper Series with Gina’s Vadai and Native is held on 28th July, from 10pm onwards, one night only.
