ASICS Japan releases the OK Basketball MT and OK Basketball Lo lowcut model under the Onitsuka Tiger brand.
Onitsuka, the forerunner of ASICS, was founded in 1949. The following year, in 1950, the mid-cut basketball shoe was introduced as the basic model of the company. The OK Basketball MT is designed based on that original basketball shoe model, and the low-cut version is the OK Basketball Lo.
Not only the form, but also the texture of the upper, the stitching, the iconic metal eyelets, and the rubber patch on the upper side are close approximations of the original. Also, the Tiger logo on the shoe tongue of the original makes a special reappearance in the updated version.
Designed based on the original model, the fit and feel have been updated for modern times. The molded inner sole provides cushioning and resilience for a better fit.
The OK Basketball model has a classic look but with modern fit. The history of Onitsuka Tiger comes alive with the new model.
The OK Basketball model will be available at Ngee Ann City, Takashimaya S.C., Suntec City and Vivo City from 31 December.
