So when we were presented with a Pebble Steel smartwatch, we were interested to find out how we feel about going through each day with a buzzing wrist.
Surprisingly, it did not feel as invasive as what we originally thought. Convenience was more reachable when it is strapped on our wrist, when required of course. The Pebble Steel is a premium version of the original Pebble smartwatch which is well-liked for its the e-paper display, week-long battery life, and ingenious app ecosystem.
Taking wearable tech to the next level of cool, Pebble Steel combines modern technology with classic timepiece design to give users a smartwatch fit for modern urbanites during work and play. Steel’s e-paper display is protected by an ultra-durable Corning Gorilla Glass lens with an oleophobic, anti-fingerprint coating. The improved housing also comes with subtle RGB LED lights to indicate charging status.
What makes Pebble Steel so enjoyable is the exciting variety of apps available. The smartwatch connects to your mobile phone via Bluetooth and supports notifications from basic mobile functions/apps such as emails, SMS, WhatsApp and Instagram. Users can also control music and other household items when you can’t reach for your phone. The watch face is also customisable, with a whole range of designs to choose from.
Pebble’s appstore has also flourished since its launch earlier this year with big name brands such as Mercedes-Benz, iControl, GoPro, Misfit, Pandora and Evernote jumping on board. Pebble’s Software Development Kit (SDK) capabilities have also opened up a world of possibilities with unique apps and watchfaces being created and released all the time by Pebblers worldwide.
