Local alternative store Peek! is celebrating its two-year anniversary with a snazzy affair this September!
2012 has proven to be a whopping year for Peek! with its expansion into more avenues of alternative photography. It has welcomed Darkroom Army, its sister brand that offers refurbished Russian Fed 5 cameras, and opened Peek! Galleria, its second floor retail space that promotes ‘iPhoneography’ and the Impossible Project. At the heart of the bustle, Peek! is tirelessly dedicated to growing the alternative photography scene in Singapore in as many ways as it can.
While it pops the champagne to celebrate this momentous birthday, Peek! is also organising a photo contest and a myriad of festivities for the month.
Tying up with Cumulus, Peek! presents Double X – a photo competition that showcases the best there is in the alternative photography scene. Double X aims to further involve the community and introduce new peeps to the wonders of alternative photography.
Double X spans the entire month of September and it simply requires photographers to submit their creations taken in any format except photos taken by DSLR. Contestants can submit photos in any format taken by their analogue cameras and even their mobile phones. No theme has been set, which means it’s a free flow of creativity for everyone!
The best pictures will be selected by Peek! and put up for in-store voting at both Peek! and Cumulus (Wheelock Place). The three pictures with the most votes will win very attractive prizes. That said, in-store voters will also get a chance to be rewarded for their support!
Photography enthusiasts will be pleased to know that Peek! is also treating everyone to a month of sweet deals in its Peek! Bazaar – We Are 2! Sale. From 9 September to the end of the month, there will be 10% off all camera products, a specially designed Peek! iPhone 4/4S decal with every purchase and 20% off any two mobile phone photography accessory purchased.
