For a while, Reebok was keeping quite a low profile in the street scene. Things took a turn as it celebrates the 30th anniversary of its signature Classic series this year. Churning out brilliant collaboration shoes with independent street labels all over the world, Reebok has been creating an uproar in the scene. These street labels bear honourable street credibility and are part of the Reebok Certified Network.
In the next few weeks, Nookmag will be running a series of features highlighting various noteworthy Reebok Classic collections to join in the revelry. And in this debut edition, we will be directing the attention to three special collaborations that marked the Reebok Classic’s 30th anniversary.
Limited Edt x Reebok Classic Leather 30th Anniversary (SGD149)
Starting with a homegrown collaboration, the Limited Edt x Reebok Classic Leather 30th Anniversary shoe is decked in a reptilian style as it pays tribute to 2013 being the year of the snake. Limited Edt pushed the design envelope to stratospheric heights by incorporating green iridescent faux snakeskin on the shoe’s exterior. The shoe’s inner layer is made up of different multicolored snakeskin, taking reference from how snakes molt or shed skin. This embodies the snake’s alluring beauty after the reptile renews its skin.
atmos x Reebok Classic Leather Mid 30th Anniversary (SGD199)
atmos, Tokyo’s iconic streetwear retailer, sums up the spirit of Tokyo in its collaboration shoe. With the Classic Leather Mid as its chosen silhouette, the shoe also exhibits a prominent earthy camouflage design and a glow-in-the-dark characteristic that echos the identity of atmos.
Beatnic x Reebok Classic Leather 30th Anniversary (SGD149)
The Beatnic x Reebok Classic Leather 30th Anniversary shoe is inspired by British camouflage. Hailing from California, Beatnic dressed the shoe up in suede, complete with an orange lining that represents its hometown of Fullerton and pays homage to its original logo.
“BTNC’s Classic Leather plays on the timeless look of the design, updating its typically understated look with a bold aesthetic inspired by that of British camouflage,” says BTNC designer/manager Glen Repol.
The Limited Edt x Reebok Classic Leather 30th Anniversary, atmos x Reebok Classic Leather Mid 30th Anniversary and Beatnic x Reebok Classic Leather 30th Anniversary shoes are available at Limited Edt boutiques.
