As you already know, world-renowned graffiti artist Stash has been working with Reebok to come up with some fresh kicks. Not only has he contributed to the designs, he has also selected several graffiti and street artists from the world over for the new line. We have already introduced to you Tokyo by Rimo and Paris by Dem189. Joining the rest this week are four other amazingly-designed sneakers.
London
Designed by Typo-Grafix legend and graphic designer Swifty, the London sneaker reflects ‘Bombing London’ – both in an artistic and graffiti sense, and also terrorism. In an interview with Art and Sole Blog, Swifty mentioned he liked the juxtaposition between a hotbed of creative talent as well as a target for people who wants to destroy London. The piece is a combination of spray paint, collage, and stencil. The father of three has previously collaborated with apparel brands Levi’s and Fred Perry, and his work with Reebok is his first step into the sneaker industry.
Los Angeles
EKLIPS, an LA-based graffiti innovator, had the honour of representing his city with this watercolour-themed sneaker. The artist and owner of Seventh Letter Inc and the Known Gallery has brought you his take on LA on this west coast classic with suede graffiti-print overlays. EKLIPS has been named one the best graffiti writers to create a movement and has had a large influence on the graffiti scene.
Mexico
For Mexico, Stash decided to pick a member of Da Flow Team, a known Mexican art collective who have previously collaborated with other graf gods like Futura and Stash himself. The artist, Xghetto666, who sometimes dons a mask, is a world recognised illustrator and graphic artist. His version of a Reebok City Classic has a simpler colour scheme compared to the rest. However, on a closer look, sneaker fans will be able to see the lined details that make up most of the design. Xghetto666 finishes his design off with a wrestler-like character on the heel of the sneakers.
NYC – Wane
Wane COD is a graffiti legend who has been painting steadily for over 25 years. He first started in Le Bronx and has since became a household name to street art enthusiasts. Known for his natural ability to story tell, Wane is also into the hip-hop scene. For his collaboration with Reebok, Wane decided on a purple and blue colourway with red highlights that stand out. This is of course, together with a bold tag across the limited-edition sneakers.
These sneakers are available for SGD119 each, at Royal Sporting House Vivo, Ngee Ann City, BHG, and Limited Edt.
