Global authority and independent consumer’s guide to fine wine, Robert Parker Wine Advocate kicks off its third instalment of Matter of Taste in Singapore this October, featuring over 150 iconic wines rated 90 Robert Parker points and above, including wines rated 100 Robert Parker points for the first time in Master Classes.
Pioneered in Singapore, Matter of Taste brings together iconic wines featured in a walkabout tasting, expert masterclasses and unforgettable wine-pairing dinners hosted by world-renowned winemakers and Wine Advocate Reviewers. This event has covered over 1,800 fine wines in nine cities in the past two years, including New York City, London, San Francisco, Hong Kong and soon in Zurich, Switzerland. The Matter of Taste editions have showcased over 600 wineries since its inception.
A Distinctive Event of its Own
“Matter of Taste has come into its own and in its third edition, we have already hosted similar wine events in cities from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, Chicago, Miami, Manila, San Francisco, London and New York. This year, we are proud to present some of the world’s most exceptional wines, rated RP90 and above, some together with their winemakers and share this experience with wine-lovers in Singapore through the walkabout as well as in the series of Masterclasses and dinners planned. We hope it brings a different dimension to the appreciation of wine and the distinguishing points which make up each RP-rated wine,” says Lisa Perrotti-Brown, editor-in-chief of The Wine Advocate.
Celebration of Fine Wine in a Seven-Hour Walkabout Tasting on 22 October
Wine lovers will be able to discover more than 150 iconic wines rated 90 points and above, including Top Growers’ Champagnes recommended by Wine Advocate reviewers, from 11am to 6pm on 22 October for just SGD143, which comes with a 1-year personal subscription to Robert Parker Wine Advocate.

Some of the wineries such as Tenuta Dell’Ornellaia, Il Marroneto, Marchesi di Barolo, Castello di Ama, Schäfer-Fröhlich, Rudi Pichler and Markus Molitor will specially fly in their wines to be showcased for the first time in this Singapore event, giving the opportunity for wine tastings in a rare showcase of such diversity in Singapore.
For wine lovers who relish the variety they have experienced, special orders can be taken via wine merchants and distributors present at the event.
Masterclass Showcase
Matter of Taste Singapore will also play host to a prestigious group of wines through eight Masterclasses, which include three RP100 rated wines. These Masterclasses will be conducted by international wine reviewers from France and Germany, Stephan Reinhardt and Monica Larner. Reinhardt is an expert in Austrian and German wines as well as champagnes, while Larner holds her own with expertise in the fine art of Italian wine.
Key Masterclasses include:
- Tenors of Brunellos – This masterclass features a blockbuster line-up of 11 Brunellos, which include no less than two RP100 pointers and seven wines, which passed the RP96 mark.
- Gems of Barolos – A masterclass where classics amongst classics are showcased. Iconic names get featured while one experiences the depth and complexity with which these wines and grow into with time.
- Austrian Mosaic – This masterclass illustrates the Austrian vineyard and its scope of terroirs and varietals which give Austrian wines its name for being one of the most exciting and gives the most variety amongst “cool climate” wines.
- Tuscan Classics – This session highlights the quintessence of Tuscan gastronomy – Chianti Classico.
- Drops of Gold – Referring to the Trockenbeerenauslese and the late harvest wines from wine regions in Germany and Austria, these “drops of gold” take great effort to produce due to their high concentration, sweetness and complex taste. Their complexity makes them rare as production quantities are limited and because they age well, these Drops of Gold are highly valued by collectors.
- Mt Etna and Sicilian Wines – Sicily’s active volcano, Mt Etna, has been enjoying some fame of late and sets the stage for one of Italy’s up-and-coming regions. This masterclass will feature tastings from wineries around a volcano on the verge.
- Growers’ Champagnes – With renowned names like Tarlant and Selosse, the class will touch on how Champagne growers have been dedicated to their vineyards and with the rising demand for crafted Champagnes, seeing a trend for Growers’ Champagnes. These Champagnes display a distinctive style that is stirring up the traditional wine industry.
* An additional fee is required for Masterclasses, which are priced from SGD48 to SGD88.
