Saught is a purveyor of meaningful, minimalist jewelry. The label builds towards sustainability in post-conflict countries, and its handcrafted pieces are made out of scrap metal from landmines and repurposed artillery shells. Designing for social impact, there is no doubt that each piece holds a significance and a story.
Their latest offering revolves around what makes Courage real. Collaborating with participants from the Design for Good programme run by Project Skillseed, Saught’s collection represents what it means to be brave. It is a salute to the courageous ones who triumph over fear. Each collection interprets themes of education, women empowerment, conservation, justice, and love.
The Voyage range, consisting of the Sailboat and Lighthouse necklaces, represents freedom and liberation. The boat has been used by man to travel. Faced with stormy seas and strong winds, it must be a courageous feat to take on the unknown. The Lighthouse though, serves as a guide that leads the boat home.
The Bee stands for women empowerment. Designed by Anshu Garodia, this piece tells the story of the queen bee – the only adult, mated queen in the bee hive which is fiercely protected by the others. Anshu was also inspired by the issue of violence in India, where her hometown is.
Peace and Justice (和&道 ) is an interpretation of Yin and Yang and also influenced by the Bible. Specifically drawing inspiration from Genesis 5 and Noah’s story, the olive branch is a symbol of peace and hope. The “道” / DAO signet ring represents “the right and proper way”.
