Gentle Bones is back with one more gift, right before the festive season — an adorable music video to accompany his single, ‘Smile For Me’!
The music video is an animated short film, directed, produced and written by Mari Chung from The Mill, one of the biggest animation houses in the world based in the United States.
The music video speaks of a dream-like journey of the main character and his imaginary clown friend, who takes him on an emotional and cathartic journey. The two travel together in his dream state as the clown tries to show him a different, positive perspective of giving new experiences a try despite how life may bring some unexpected trails.
This cute and quirky animated music video begins with a wide-eyed character, though he appears anxious and upset. As he’s about to head to bed, he sees a clown at his bedside (a friendly one, we promise!) blowing up a bright yellow smiley balloon. As it turns out, the clown was blowing the last smiley balloon to add to the rest of them already tied to his bed frame — ready to bring him on a journey to space!
By the end of the music video, our main character reaches a peaceful resolution because he learnt to trust himself to get through all the ups and downs. This music video accompanies the message of the song snuggly, as Gentle Bones has shared, “Only you can give yourself the love you need.”
After the release of his single ‘Smile For Me’, Gentle Bones has gained more traction for the song. He has also landed himself in Spotify’s Top 5 Most Streamed Singapore artists in 2019.
Smile For Me reminds us that there is always hope, even when we’re at our lowest, and that we should not stop believing, for there is definitely light at the end of every tunnel.
