Shattering the spirit of conventionality, Converse’s One Star Collective was thrown together for an intimate session of co-creation at Nook & Cranny on 15 March. Working alongside their friends and peers, the session saw a day of artistic collaboration while providing a chance for the collective to express themselves in ways that went beyond the norms.
Jade decided to go old-school by illustrating the One Star with floral embellishments on paper, at the same time, integrating her favorite tattoo colors – red and black.
Nathanael and his funky friends from local fashion label MASH-UP created a colorful yet eye-catching mess with paper cut-outs, colored markers, and chenille stems.
Xavier, on the other hand, directed his artistic friends by pasting cut-outs of film reels which represented his professional self on the canvas.
Lastly, Germaine joined by her fellow dancers created a tapestry of memories from her treasured photos of her dance experiences overseas.
Last Thursday, the collective assembled once more for a special pop-up at Wheeler’s Yard, showcasing the fruits of their labor from the co-creation session.
They displayed what One Star’s spirit of fearless determination means to them through their art pieces. Transforming the industrial setting to an eye-catching installment of what Rated One Star truly means, the event saw members of the media and peers from the creative industry, alongside friends of the One Star Collective. Against the atmosphere of hearty conversations and the event’s thumping soundtrack, the Rated One Star’s finale session is unquestionably an unforgettable experience.
