Art enthusiasts, and that includes collectors, industry professionals, and those who simply enjoy visual arts, have a week specially dedicated to the wonders of art. Singapore Art Week is from January 13 to January 19, and this is the time for us to indulge. And with every indulgence, there is a crazy amount of events to go to so here are four activities that we picked out!
Art in Motion – Weekend Bus Tour by Art Galleries Association Singapore
Yes, this bus takes you on the tour of the arts. ART IN MOTION allows you to enjoy a multi-venue experience by dropping you off at several locations. Some of these include exhibitions and artist talks. Register and read up on the tour drop-offs here. 18-19 January 2014, 11 am to 7pm.
FLUX: Collective Exhibition
This free exhibition will showcase the works of over 20 artists from all over the world, like Fabienne Verdier, Bernar Venet, Ian Davenport, Nan Qi, Sherman Ong and many more. The exhibition hopes to bring together the East and West and create dialogues between various cultures. Be part of it. Check it out at Art Plural Gallery, 38 Armenian Street. Seeing is Believing: Unusual Stamps Exhibition
The humble postage stamp will be seen in a new light after this exhibition. The collection will include stamps made of materials like wood, silk, or lace. We heard there are chocolate-scented stamps too. Check it out at Singapore Philatelic Museum, 23B Coleman Street. Through May 2014, Monday 1 pm – 7pm, Tuesday to Sunday 9am – 7pm
Aliwal Urban Art Festival
Musicians from the fields of funk, rock, and hip hop meet dancers, DJs, live street art, and video projections. Sounds like an event not ot be missed. Names like Fungkimunkees, O$P$ and the RSCLS will take you to a one night journey of Singapore’s urban art scene for free. Click here to take a look at the line-up! Check it out at 28 Aliwal Street.
