Following this year’s Bold and Beautiful theme, Singapore Art Museum (SAM) is going all out to turn Bras Basah Road and Queen Street into a wild and vibrant space for Singapore Night Festival. Featuring an explosive line-up of local and international artists and food vendors with delicious treats to offer, your plans for the last two weekends of August is taken care of.
French visual and interactive design agency WECOMEINPEACE will be responsible for prettying up the Singapore Art Musuem, which involves a multimedia extravaganza on the balconies, windows, and columns of the majestic building. The canvas of white walls will be wrapped with colours and come alive with the fanstastical spirits of nature. With the creative additions of light and sound, it is an experience not to be missed.
What is a festival without a talented line-up of musicians? On 22 and 23 August 2014, NOISE Weekend @ SAM features 10 emerging bands and musicians from NOISE Singapore’s Music Programme. This includes the soulful Christiane Mikaela, songstress Ariane Deborah, pop-rockers The Summer State, indie rockers Stopgap, and post-rockers Ellipsis.
On 29 and 30 August, 9.30 to 11.30pm, Chapel at SAM will be host to The Cloud of Unknowing by Ho Tzu Nyen, a cinematic exploration of the cloud as image, metaphor and carrier for divine illumination. There will be live performances during the Night Festival and renowned musicians Bani Haykal and Randolf Arriola will summon up an all-enveloping experience of The Cloud of Unknowing, collaborating to generate a field of pure sonic intensity.
Those with an itch to shop will be delighted to know the the folks at The Local People are having their second Night Market along Queen Street on 30 August 2014, from 7pm to 2am. This is also where the food vendors will be, so find out who they are in this article.
