Multi-label concept store STAR360’s reputation as a purveyor and aficionado of renowned lifestyle and street labels is bolstered by its constant update in styles. An unwavering pillar of the dynamic store is the medley of Japanese footwear labels that include Onitsuka Tiger, Patrick and Spingle Move and ASICS Tiger. Kicking off the year with a fresh range of designs, these star-studded labels are also fronting an upcoming STAR360 event that celebrates Japanese craftsmanship (more details below).
Onitsuka Tiger
Boasting a dedicated fan base, Onitsuka Tiger is favoured for its iconic tiger stripes that are tantamount to sporting triumph. This season’s leading range is the non-conforming Mexico 66 Paraty, which has proven its popularity with consumers seeking a more laid-back style. With the laces removed and the tongue stitched to the inside panels of the upper, the Mexico 66 Paraty approaches design with a less-is-more attitude. All sneakers feature unique motifs at the heel and enhanced suede.
The latest collection presents the camouflage print as a distinct design at the heel, with an array of colours made available. The Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 Paraty retails at SGD129.
Patrick
Founded in France, made in Japan, Patrick owns a story like no other. Sporty, comfortable and functional, its footwear range exudes a casual glow. Designers explore beyond their boundaries by using colours not commonly found on sports shoes and a variety of materials. Instead of being influenced by trends, the footwear label pursues a timeless style.
STAR360 has both Cornwall and Marathon collections featured at its stores. A classic retro running model, Cornwall features thickened midsoles, nylon upper and enamel-coated letter ‘P’ on the sides.
Unlike the Cornwall collection, the Marathon range boasts brighter colours and is constructed with nylon fabric. The comfort of the shoes is derived from the soft and thick outsoles. Both Cornwall and Marathon retail at SGD219.
Spingle Move
The essence of Japanese craftsmanship is reflected in the selection of shoes by Spingle Move. Its founders have an 80-year history of making rubber in their own factory in Fuchu, Hiroshima Prefecture. Delicately hand crafted by the Japanese, every pair of shoes has its unique markings and personalities.
Spingle Moves swears by the traditional vulcanised process that it employs to manufacture durable and high quality shoes. This uncommon method involves the application of high heat and pressure, and the addition of sulphur to create rubber soles that bond tightly with the shoes.
The featured khaki green and tanned leather models are made from kangaroo leather, which is light and durable, while the white striped model is made from cow leather, which is smooth and comfortable. All designs retail at SGD239.
ASICS Tiger
A Japanese lifestyle legend that fuses heritage and modern flair, ASICS Tiger continues to reinvent classic silhouettes, create new styles and collaborate with like-minded artists and cultural connoisseurs. This season’s hero collection is the extraordinary GEL-KAYANO® Trainer Knit Low – a result of an artistic exploration where the traditional sneaker is deconstructed and reimagined. It features a stretch knit upper that surrounds the foot in a custom sock-like fit and a moulded TPU caged overlay that stabilises the structure of the low silhouette. It is not all technology as the sneaker retains its traditional lace system and heritage-inspired midsole.
This spring, ASICS Tiger introduces a fresh range of colourway that includes light green (Bay), orange-red (Peach) and off-white (Birch). Silver black and silver white versions were released to offer more versatility to the range. The ASICS Tiger GEL-KAYANO® Trainer Knit retails at SGD229.
