Toy Artists Making an Appearance
This year’s show will feature works and appearances by Huck Gee, Jason Freeny and Simone Legno. They make up STGCC’s exclusive toy panel where they will share their experience in the kingdom of toys, knowledge on what skills are required and their collaboration with major corporate brands.
Huck Gee is known for his handmade figures that are instant hits with toy fans around the world. The artist’s artwork, such as his famed Dunny titled “Hello my name is” is exhibited in galleries worldwide, including the New York Museum of Modern Art. Another of Huck Gee’s famed custom creations, known as the “Kokios Courier Service”, is a magnificent set featuring a specially curated munny. Toy collectors will be ecstatic to hear that Huck Gee will be selling an exclusive version of his brand new platform figure, “The Blank!” toy.
Jason Freeny dissects toys and, with his deft sculpting fingers, reveals the anatomical makeup of beloved childhood icons Barbie Dolls, Hello Kitty, Giant Lego Man and Little Pony. Freeny, who has won the hearts of many with his fictitious anatomical sculptures, sets foot on Asian soil for the first time for STGCC. He is co-hosted by Mighty Jaxx, a local toy creation company that collaborates with internationally recognised artists on limited edition figures. His works also stem from collaborations with world renowned toy or product design companies like Toy2R, and FCTRY. Freeny has clinched four Toy Designer awards by Clutter Magazine and will be bringing his STGCC exclusives, Friendly Fire and Micro Anatomic to the show.
Much to fans’ delight, Simone Legno’s cutesy Japanese-inspired lifestyle brand, tokidoki, has announced the regional debut of the Unicorno 4 Series. STGCC will be the first location in the region to feature this series, which is slated to be launched worldwide in the third quarter of the year. The Italian-born designer who is based in California, will be releasing it alongside the limited-edition STGCC x tokidoki Unicorno, his STGCC exclusive in celebration of SG50 when he returns this year.
