Earlier this month, Converse celebrates the wearers of its Converse Chuck Taylor All Star sneakers, through its “Made by you” photobooth pop-up at Bugis Junction. We caught up with a few participants who showed up with their well-worn Chucks to create their sneaker portraits. And checked out their style and love for the iconic sneakers.

Wearing current Chucks for six years
“It’s hard for me to find shoes for my feet and Converse shoes are the only ones that fit me. I’d usually pair my Chucks with denim jeans.”

Wearing current Chucks for one and a half years
“I’ve been wearing Chucks since I was in high school. They provide me with everything I need – both casual and formal styles. I can wear them everywhere I go. And my favourite outfit to pair with my Chuck Taylors is my formal suit.”

“I bought [this pair of Chucks] during my honeymoon in Hong Kong three and a half years ago. I have about 14 pairs of Chuck Taylors. I’ve been wearing them for 12 years and I rotate them depending on how I feel. Nearly everything I do is in these, even my gym sessions. I went to my best friend’s wedding in a suit and Chucks.”
“I don’t like bulky shoes and Chucks are quite thin. There are millions of designs, so you can kind of mix and match. When I was younger, I used to swap my boots and wear different colours at once. But I’m a bit old for that now. I’ve even custom made a pair of Chucks.”
“They always look really good when they’re smashed up. I actually don’t like wearing them when they’re new. I prefer them when they’re worn in.”

“This pair is almost brand new. It was love at first sight. I like black and white and I’ve always admired Missoni. So when I saw this pair, it just struck me. Since this is black and white, the easiest way to style is monochromatic. But then again, you can have colours for your top. Keep your bottoms black.”

“It’s super versatile and I can pair it with anything I want. The best part is I can just fit my feet into them and I don’t need to tie up the laces. It’s also super striking and waterproof. I’m usually in black, so this pair of Chucks really sticks out. I like to pair them with dresses, so [my look] doesn’t look too boring or conventional.”
