Nothing shouts “Korean cuisine” like the incorporation of spicy elements, with exemplary cuisines like the tteobokki, spicy ramyon and buldak. This season, homegrown restaurant Seoul Yummy is set to excite spicy food lovers with its Seoul Spicy menu that boasts a spread of 10 numbing but moreish dishes, with 2 stews, 3 mains and 5 side dishes.
Previously introduced to the market as seasonal dishes in mid-2018, the Dak Bokkeum Tang ($26.80/$12.80 for individual pot) and Seafood Jjamppong Stew ($28.80/$13.80 for individual pot) are the 2 spanking hot stews in the menu that are making its return by popular demand.
Diners in favour of an immediate punch of picante flavour ought to go for the Dak Bokkeum Tang Stew, a South Korean stir-fry chicken soup dish not commonly found in Singapore. Featuring Seoul Yummy’s homemade spicy soup base, the Dak Bokkeum Tang Stew is basically an elevated and heartier version of every spicy lovers’ favourite Korean spicy noodle, served with juicy fresh chicken chunks, potatoes and carrots.
Those who prefer to take things at a comforting pace can opt for the Seafood Jjamppong Stew that stars a special soup broth of Korean spicy paste and salted fermented shrimps – a unique concoction in contrast to the regular chicken broth. Accompanied by a spread of fresh seafood, the Seafood Jjamppong stew that permeates an earthy and smoky aroma also comes with Jjalmyon, a chewy Korean specialty wheat noodle that aces in absorbing the smoky flavours of the soup and the sweet flavours of the seafood.
Non-spicy eaters with the fear of missing out can kickstart with the side dishes – Fire Fried Chikin ($6.80), Fire Chicken Wings ($7.80), Chicken Dumplings with Fire Sauce ($6.80), Kimchi Dumplings with Jjamppong Mayo sauce ($7.80) and Korean Fire Mapo Tofu ($6.80). For a fulfilling meal, there are main options such as the Fire Rice with Chicken ($11.80), Fire Japchae ($11.80) and Korean Fire Mapo Tofu ($11.80). The myriad of side and main dishes available are wholly new to Seoul Yummy, crafted exclusively for the Seoul Spicy menu.
For a belly satisfying and hearty meal, diners can choose to have the Too Spicy Combo ($38.80) that comes with a choice of stew, a choice of appetiser and 2 homemade Iced Lemon Tea. The stews are available in 3 levels of spiciness. Diners who are able to finish the level 3 stew will be rewarded with a 30% discount.
The Seoul Spicy menu will be available from today to 30th June, across all Seoul Yummy outlets.
