January 2018 marks the eagerly-awaited debut of the new MEXICO 66 SD, featuring innovations based on the MEXICO 66. This new model will impress wearers with an improved performance and utility based on technology, a reflection of the brand philosophy.
The MEXICO 66 SD retains some of the elements of the classic MEXICO 66, like the thin sole, the Onitsuka Tiger stripe, and iconic heel flap. However, the new model uses a new last for a slimmer, more modern silhouette. The sole in particular has been improved for better performance by combining multiple materials. Though the changes may not be apparent at first glance, wearers will feel the difference with the MEXICO 66 SD.
The toe and heel portions are made of cushioning material fuzeGEL, developed by the ASICS Institute of Sport Science. Precise placement of the gel along the midsole improves cushioning and resilience. The MEXICO 66 SD retains the MEXICO 66’s unique thin sole style while improving performance. Cushioning and fit are also better, with the addition of OrthoLite that offers excellent resilience in the insole. The rubber outer sole promises better grip- which is excellent on wet surfaces and improves the benefits of a town sneaker.
The upper is available in two materials- high-quality leather and suede with more texture. The leather upper comes in vaporous grey and yellow, with the retro Onitsuka Tiger-stripe, as well as single tones cream and black, with the feel of leather in the front. The suede upper model is available in smoke light blue and coral cloud (launching in April), which are lighter shades for spring and summer that also give a sense of texture, providing trendy spring and summer styles that begin with the feet up.
The Mexico 66 SD (SGD199) is available from today at AW LAB, Limited Edt (select stores), Pacific Sports SG, Pedder Group, Robinsons at The Heeren, The Social Foot (select stores) and Sole Central.
