From 27 February to 1 March 2015, The Necessary Stage is running The Orange Playground Showcase 1, a platform where artists will be sharing their works with the audience for discussion and feedback.
The Orange Playground is a a creative research and development programme that was launched this year by The Necessary Stage. Both emerging and established artists can now gather and meet like-minded folks at The Orange Playground, where they will do research and exploration.The Necessary Stage aims to collaborate with artists in an exploratory environment where risks can be freely taken within and with the creative process.
Collaborators in the Labs include actors like Siti Khalijah Zainal, Brian Gothong Tan, Seong Hui Xian, and Eng Kai Er. Showcase 1 includes Lab 1, where artist Sharon Frese deconstructs and reassembles traditional modes of storytelling to narrate on stereotypes and homelessness. Another showcase involves Brian Gothong Tan and other actors who will breach their comfort zones with filmmaking and different techniques.
