Thanks to Now/Live, the dynamic trio from London, The xx, will be performing their debut headline show in Singapore this August. Critically acclaimed and cinching a Mercury Prize in 2010 for their first album ‘xx’, The xx returns to the stage two years later with the release of ‘Coexist’, which landed itself in the Top 10 charts in more than 20 countries. The band, made up of Romy Madley Croft (vocals, lead guitar), Oliver Sim (vocals, bass guitar) and Jamie ‘XX’ Smith (beats, MPC sampler), produced ‘Coexist’ with all three of them working together while adding their own personal experiences in the fray.
“To coexist doesn’t paint the rosiest picture but I think it represents the realness. Learning to live together, learning to work together again, learning to live with the person you’re with, or your ex. It’s all connected,” Romy explains, summing up their second album.
Expect a mixed feel of R&B, dance music and bittersweet heartbreak as Romy’s guitar riffs and Oliver’s bass lines encircle each other and loop around Jamie’s stellar beats.
The xx will be performing on the 2 August 2013, starts at 8pm and will be held at The Star Theatre. Tickets are priced at S$148, $128, $108, $88, $68 and can be purchased on the 17 April 2013 via SISTIC.
