Are you ready to joget and jive this weekend? Reinterpreting traditions with a contemporary twist, Armenian Street Party: Living Peranakan celebrates the 11 years since the launch of the Peranakan Museum before it closes for renovations. Bringing the vibrant living Peranakan culture up-close to the masses, festival goers can revel in Singaporean favourites, Peranakan-style – food, shopping, music and dancing! The first programme on the newly revamped Armenian Street Park, this year’s party sees performances and activities spread across Armenian Street, Peranakan Museum and [email protected]
Other than sedap Peranakan cuisine such as nyonya laksa and chendol drinks, visitors can look out for local acts like comedian Hossan Leong and groovy tunes by the Jazz Djogets. On Friday and Saturday, look out for a spectacular Peranakan fashion show and traditional wedding procession in the evening! Usually an intimate session, the colourful wedding procession will be a sight to behold as visitors witness the rituals of the 12-day traditional Peranakan wedding ceremony. Great for families, there will also be an exciting line-up of workshops, giveaways, tours and crafts for visitors to immerse themselves in the versatile Peranakan culture. Everyone is encouraged to bring their kampong and take lots of pictures as a merry time awaits!
