Admit it – our environment needs more loving than ever. While ignorance breeds destruction, awareness could translate into care and actions. For the last 40 years, Timberland® has set an excellent example of being strongly committed to environmental protection and sustainability, following a core belief that businesses can create a positive impact in the world.
To extend the awareness of its environmental efforts, Timberland® invites the public to make a commitment to care for and save our environment through its #PlantMyPledge global initiative from 27 April to 31 May 2015. The #PlantMyPledge campaign allows everybody to do their part in caring for the Earth through individual ways that best suit them. Participants can visit www.plantmypledge.com/sg, make a pledge and submit a photo that encapsulates their commitment to the environment via one of two themes – “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” or “Healthy Living”.
Five photos and pledges with the most number of votes will qualify for the final selection, and the most meaningful pledge will win a trip to Horqin. He/she can expect to be amazed by nature; experience the beauty of the forests of Inner Mongolia; learn how overgrazing of land, human civilisation and climate changes have vanquished the once-bountiful green lands and the steps Timberland® has taken to help regain Horqin’s glory, one tree at a time. The four runner-ups will each receive $100 worth of Timberland® vouchers.
“As an active outdoor lifestyle brand, ensuring the protection and sustainability of our natural environment is integral to Timberland®’s DNA. By embarking on projects and initiatives that create a positive impact to the environment, such as Timberland® Horqin Project and #PlantMyPledge campaign, we also educate and engage the communities as well as our own staff,” said Mr. Stewart Whitney, Brand President for Timberland®.
Timberland® has also been involved in hundreds of tree planting projects around the globe – from robust reforestation projects in Haiti and China, to Earth Day service events and employee-led greening projects in the communities where Timberland® operates. Its Horqin Project has seen the brand plant two million trees in Horqin over the past 15 years in an effort to transform a desert to grassland and forest.
By adopting a habit that can create positive impacts on ourselves and the environment, Timberland® wishes that everybody can contribute in their own ways to preserve the environment.
