A quarter of the century has fleeted before our very eyes, and the nation’s most loved club, Zouk, turned 25 a couple weeks ago on 28 May. Well loved by many, Zouk was an institution; a playground where many night owls and party animals (including myself) call home. Commemorating this milestone, the Silver Jubilee anniversary party celebrated 25 years of awesomness at the iconic Jiak Kiam Street with a night of revelry, crazy dancing and non-stop playlists to keep everyone’s feet shuffling on the dance floor!
No efforts were spared to celebrate the club’s final anniversary at the Jiak Kim complex/on Jiak Kim street, for sure. Even the bangers and mash food cart was given a silver pimp as well! The space was adorned with everything silver. It was a shimmering spectacle to get partygoers in the mood for the club’s birthday celebration by arriving in their silver best.
Of course, there’s no party without chugging some booze. For SGD25, party animals could enjoy their perennial favourites such as sour plum shots, or the potent Long Island ice tea. Alternatively, there was the good old 1-for-1 Citibank credit card promotion that made Citibank cardholders happy.
At the Silver Jubilee party, veteran clubbers were down for a blast from the past, remembering the good times through great music by the pioneers of the decks, present residents and regulars such as Jeremy Boon, Andrew Chow, Tony Tay and more.
Apart from the glitz and glam, lucky clubbers walked away with a piece of memory from Zouk featuring the iconic Zouk Eye mascot, the Zouk Warehouse façade and the familiar Bangers and Mash.
Once again, happy birthday Zouk! Till then, they’ll say hello from the other side at Clarke Quay.
